Bach’s sacred cantatas are gems of artistry. This year, three Festival premieres are included, as well as the cantatas Bach wrote for his first two Sundays in his new position at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, juxtaposed with two of his missae breves (short masses). This continues the Bethlehem Festival’s tradition of providing an unmatched opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich variety of Bach’s creative genius.

Part 1 at 2:15pm,
Part 2 at 4:30pm

The Bach Choir of Bethlehem gave the American premiere of Bach’s choral masterpiece in 1900 and has been acclaimed for performances of this magnificent work at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Usher Hall Edinburgh, and Kings College Cambridge.
